BURGHLEY HORSE TRIALS - Gallopy Gallopy Gallopy

Together with Badminton

and Kentucky USA these three events

go to make the Rolex Grand Slam.

Burghley is the second largest 3 day

Event in the UK.

To some the challenges the horse and

riders face are even great than that of

[ Some fences are really really scary ]

Let's get this out of the way up front, if

you are looking for a gentle stroll in

the country this might not be the event

for you. Burghley is hilly, very hilly,

good footwear is essential. High heels

on XC day might not be the best idea.

The public car parks are a good walk

from the main areas, so best not

forget anything on the way out. This

does mean that carrying all the

shopping back to the car normally gets

delegated to any man that happens to

tag along.

Having mention shopping it is on a par

with Badminton, as you might expect.

Facilities are clean and plentiful. Food

outlets provide for almost every taste.

For the dressage phase there is

access on one side so tickets are not

required. The final phase of

showjumping does require tickets,

best to visit the website early if that is

your intention.

XC day can get extremely busy so it is

best to plan to add extra time for

getting into and out of estate and the

surrounding roads. The main road to

and from Stamford Which Burghley

backs onto is the A1. Clan tip, add

plenty of time to get in and out of this
